Double Column Stacker Crane

A double column (or double mast) stacker crane is an automated lifting device featuring two parallel vertical columns that support a central elevation cradle.

Double column stacker crane (also known as a twin-mast or double-mast AS/RS crane) is a high-performance automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) designed for ultra-high-bay warehouses exceeding 15–45 m in height. It consists of two parallel vertical masts rigidly connected by a top crossbeam and a horizontal carriage, delivering exceptional torsional stability and load distribution that single-mast cranes cannot achieve.

Engineered for warehouses 15–45+ m tall; dual masts eliminate sway and resonance, enabling safe operation at heights where single-mast cranes fail.

Two parallel vertical masts rigidly linked by a top crossbeam and horizontal carriage provide exceptional load distribution and rigidity, even with 1,500–2,500 kg payloads.

Operates in aisles as narrow as 1.4–1.8 m, maximising storage density (typically >5 pallets per m²) while maintaining full access to both sides of the racking.

Horizontal travel up to 6 m/s and vertical lift up to 2.5 m/s, delivering 150–200 double-cycles per hour per crane for maximum throughput.
